Due to severe weather conditions, power outages at three RSU 57 schools and in anticipation of additional weather-related challenges, all elementary schools (Alfred, Line, Lyman, Shapleigh and Waterboro) will be dismissed at 11:30am today. Lunch will be provided prior to dismissal. As there are many road closures, please be patient with your child’s drop-off time. We appreciate your support and understanding during this challenging time.
It is with great excitement and pride that we announce the recipients of the Model Mustang Staff Award for the month of December! This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Each Model Mustang was nominated by colleagues who took the time to acknowledge and celebrate their coworkers’ exceptional contributions to our district. Their hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for the positive impact they have within RSU 57! Click the link to view December's Model Mustang Award recipients. Students across the district were surprised with a special sweet treat in honor of National Cupcake day! Thank you to our amazing kitchen staff for making this possible!

RSU 57 proudly welcomed the arrival of its first of two electric buses on December 12. The District recently applied for a federal grant program which would provide eligible school districts with electric buses entirely free-of-charge. After a rigorous selection process, RSU 57 was chosen to receive two electric buses. The new electric buses will run on a trial basis to evaluate how they provide value to the RSU 57 Transportation Department. An orientation and safety training was held following the unveiling and was attended by Central Office Administration, Transportation staff, and local EMS/fire departments.

Thank you to all the Veterans and family members who were able to join us on Thursday for our breakfast and assembly. Our celebration allowed us an opportunity to honor you and share with our learners how many have sacrificed for the freedoms that they have today. I am working on putting together a video of our special event and will share it with families soon!
What a great event we had last week! In combination with our evening fall book fair event, our Title 1 program hosted a fall family night. Families enjoyed Maine themed math and literacy activities plus a special appearance from a Maine Guide. Thank you to all the families who were able to attend this event.
School Bus Safety Week poster winner is Ava Stevens. Our transportation department voted on over 40 entries. Ava will be featured on next years Bus Safety Week posters as well as placed in our buses as a reminder of our safety expectations! Congratulations, Ava!
