Massabesic Adult and Community Education is proud to partner with the Kinship Program to put on a free seminar about "Raising a Relative's Child". This informational session provides kinship providers, formal (DHHS involvement) and informal (no DHHS involvement) an opportunity to connect with other families raising relatives children, learn what it means to be a kinship provider and what resources are out there to support them. Our upcoming session is Wednesday, November 1st from 6-7:30pm at the Massabesic Adult Learning Center. Free childcare will be provided. As part of National School Bus Safety Week, RSU 57 hosted a BBQ for our Transportation Department and celebrated staff for the incredible work they do to keep our students safe on and off the road. Additionally, students across RSU 57 created designs that showed what "Safely Rolling to My Destination" means to them. Transportation staff had the opportunity to view all of the incredible designs and vote for their favorite. The Grand Prize Winner's design will be featured on the 2024 National Bus Safety Flyer!
Thank you to our Transportation Department employees for their continuous hard work and dedication to serving our community.

Shapleigh Memorial School has been committed to honoring, thanking and celebrating our Veterans and their families for many years. We have also focused on educating our students on the service and sacrifice of our Veterans and their families. We are beginning the plan for our annual community Veterans Day assembly this year. This will be held on November 9th, beginning with a breakfast for our school community veterans followed by our school assembly.
This year we would like to highlight our Veteran’s service in a new way by creating posters that highlights each of our Veterans. This visual historical perspective will enable students and staff to see the depth of service they have provided to our community and country.
We have many new families this year, so we kindly request that anyone who is a Veteran or who has a Veteran in their family, please complete the following form so that we can send along information for our assembly. Thank you in advance!

Don't forget it is our PTC sponsored Hat Day tomorrow. Bring $1 and wear your favorite hat at school!

Welcome back everyone! We had an amazing start to the school year so far! Classrooms are focusing on getting to know each other and our classroom/school routines.
Mrs. Penney met with classrooms to read the book “Alma and How She Got Her Name” as part of our community building activities this year. Following the reading, learners shared fun stories and connections with their own names and created a name bug to be placed on our school bulletin board. Each month, we will do a fun school wide activity that will align to each of our core values.

Good Evening RSU 57 Community,
Today, RSU 57 excitedly welcomed over 1,900 students in grades 1-9 for their first day of school. The success of today could not have been possible without the diligence of our educators, administrators and staff in our Transportation, Nutrition and Maintenance departments. Additionally, we are grateful for the efforts of parents and caregivers as they continue to support our students’ learning in this new year.
RSU 57 looks forward to welcoming back students in grades 10-12 tomorrow, August 31 and our youngest students in Pre-K and Kindergarten on September 5.
Here’s to a wonderful 2023-2024 school year.
My Best,
Stephen D. Marquis, PhD.
