Shapleigh Memorial School has been committed to honoring, thanking and celebrating our Veterans and their families for many years. We have also focused on educating our students on the service and sacrifice of our Veterans and their families. We are beginning the plan for our annual community Veterans Day assembly this year. This will be held on November 9th, beginning with a breakfast for our school community veterans followed by our school assembly. This year we would like to highlight our Veteran’s service in a new way by creating posters that highlights each of our Veterans. This visual historical perspective will enable students and staff to see the depth of service they have provided to our community and country. We have many new families this year, so we kindly request that anyone who is a Veteran or who has a Veteran in their family, please complete the following form so that we can send along information for our assembly. Thank you in advance! Veterans Day Form: https://forms.gle/LaHwY4PMUfEViSd38

Mrs. Penney met with classrooms to read the book “Alma and How She Got Her Name” as part of our community building activities this year. Following the reading, learners shared fun stories and connections with their own names and created a name bug to be placed on our school bulletin board. Each month, we will do a fun school wide activity that will align to each of our core values.
