On Wednesday, June 3rd, Shapleigh Memorial School hosted a truly heartwarming tradition, our Massabesic High School Senior Walk-Through. Our hallways were filled with excitement, cheers, and high-fives as graduating MHS seniors returned to their roots, proudly wearing their caps and gowns. Walking past our current elementary learners, these soon-to-be graduates gave our students an inspiring glimpse into their own bright futures. Congratulations to the Class of 2026! We are incredibly proud of you!

This past Tuesday on May 5th, we took our top six mathletes from each school to the Portland Expo Center. Walking into a room filled with over 600 mathletes was truly awe-inspiring! Our learners handled the pressure, the crowd, and the competition with incredible grace and excitement.
Our learners worked incredibly hard leading up to this event. They dove into accelerated math concepts, embraced difficult challenges, and represented our district with pride. This season would not have been possible without the dedication of our lead coordinators. A very special thank you to Emily MacKinnon and Heather Graham for their vision and hard work. We also want to thank our parent volunteers; your time and support were essential in making this opportunity a reality!

A massive thank you to all the families who traveled from galaxies near and far to join us for our Star Wars-themed Family Night this past Thursday. We were absolutely thrilled to welcome 175 people to our event! It was truly a galactic evening of fun and learning.
The successful mission would not have been possible without our stellar crew! Thank you to our Title 1 staff for your visional planning and coordination. Thank you staff and volunteers for your support keeping each station running smoothly. Thank you to our PTC for an amazing ice cream bar. We appreciate you all for making this family night amazing!

Look at all the spectacular donations collected for the No Bowl Empty 2 Pet Food Pantry in Waterboro! We are so proud of our learners for their hard work in organizing this drive.
The pantry owner shared a heartfelt message on her Facebook page:
"My heart grew three sizes when they delivered on Wednesday. The parents and teachers have done a phenomenal job teaching compassion! Thank you Shapleigh Elementary, you ROCK!!"

The Portland Sea Dogs honor area students for being “Most Improved” Student. The program is open to students in grades K-12. Teachers may nominate a student from their classroom who have shown tremendous hard work and dedication to their learning and made great gains during this school year. The students selected receive a complimentary ticket to a game in April and are presented with a certificate from the Sea Dogs recognizing their accomplishment.

We are so excited to partner with Hannaford this year for the Hannaford Helps Schools program, running from April 5 to May 30! Through this program, shoppers will earn 3 School Dollars for every 4 participating products purchased. At checkout, customers will receive a School Dollar printout they can redeem online to donate to any school in this program.
To redeem School Dollars, all shoppers need to do is enter the unique printout code and store number on the Hannaford Helps Schools program website and select their school. Each School Dollar printout has a QR code that will bring shoppers directly to this link, ensuring that redeeming School Dollars is as easy as possible. While online redemption is encouraged, schools will have a collection envelope to send School Dollar printouts to our team for tallying.
The top 200 schools to raise the most money by redeeming School Dollars will each receive a $1,000 bonus check! Thank you for your support in advance!

This past Friday, our school enjoyed a delicious surprise this week, thanks to a generous donation from a local Irish Sugar Shack! To celebrate the season, everyone was treated to a special ice cream social featuring fresh, locally-made maple syrup. We would like to extend a special thank you to the Knox family for their wonderful donation and for sharing a taste of spring with our school community. Thank you for making our day extra sweet!
